I'm falling behind again~ I've been trying to keep content updated on my FB Page though but in terms of blogging I'm always falling behind and I'm still wrapping up a few more edits on a few shoots I've been working on.

And I got a few more coming up...I'm thankful for everyone who is eager to see the photos QvQ I was so hyped for the NANA shoot that I...really need to wrap up the 2nd half but I still got quite a bit from Katsu to wrap up and then book layout! Ah nothing has changed! LOL

TG has always been a goal of mine to shoot and I'm super stoked to have gotten this chance at Katsu.
Admittedly, this shoot was rather rushed??? There was quite a lot going on and not to mention it was really cold so we were unable to shoot outside as I had intended to try and get a urab style shoot but I'm very happy with how this turned out.

Cosplay by Nepesi, I'm sorry I didn't catch her Touka's name QvQ I will go back and update this when I am able to get her contact info. I'd still love to be able to shoot another TG set in the future though!

I'm quite thankful that Katsucon weekend allowed me an opportunity to work with such a diverse group of individuals, styles and different series too! I think every cos photographer has a bucket list of things they'd want to shoot and Diablo is definitely one of them for me! I'm glad I got to shoot the Crusader class versus the typical more overly cosplayed Demon Hunter. Its just a nice diversity since I dont see this class done often enough.

 

Though I am very very open to shooting with a Monk and Witch Doctor especially too! (or with anyone in general! LOL)

 

Bamzy Cosplay was a dream to work with, this was my first time shooting with her but homegirl worked it. She was confident and comfortable with her posing and had vibrant energy. It definitely helped shed away my nervousness at shooting at the con >w<!!! Thank you for being patient and so awesome! This is one of the 3 sets I shot with her this weekend.

 

I wanted to highlight the details she put into her costume, one of the biggest thing I want to learn and improve on is painting props and armor. From getting the right highlights and shadowing on the costume and armor really really makes a huge difference and I definitely wanted it to show through on her photoset. I also went with this a strong contrast and sharp colors to help bring the Diablo mood to life. Or atleast how I would have translated Diablo in my head...

In before I am seriously flooded with backlogging. I know I'm still backlogged from the summer shoot from last year that I haven't updated them on this blog yet! WHAT EVEN!??!? I know, I'm really bad at it...

Its kinda hilarious that I'm posting this post up before I post my New Year photo sets lol (since I have yet to really finish the entire set. Whoops) But I stopped over at Anime Los Angeles (ALA) for a day and did a quick set for Prototype-Cosplay and Helios Cosplay (both are on facebook!)

They had booked me for a Vassalord (BL) shoot and this is what we came up with! I've shot BL before but havent done so in a hotel room exclusively. Thankfully the set came out ok and the clients were pretty happy with the result. I didn't have any BTS to share since this was a rather quick photoshoot. Thankfully enough the hotel provided adequate lighting and with some editing on LR neutralized all the yellow lighting.

I always love working with Zai, I shot with em' before at AX for a different set and this is my second time working with em. Hopefully we will have more shoots in the future!

I just want to start with wow! Its been *such* a long time since I've really enjoyed myself at a con :)
I miss everyone so much and post con depression is hitting so so so so hard lol.

Trying so hard to stay awake at work right now too....lolol

This is surprising that I'm even writing this so soon since normally I give it MONTHS before I can actually sit down and do my con-report but since I'm still in vacation mode (despite being back at work) ahahaha I wanna pen this down as quickly as I can before I loose out more precious details uwu;;

2014年11月11日| Pacific Media Expo

Over the weekend I went over to Los Angeles for Pacific Media Expo. it was probably the quickest con I've been to ahaha and I practically missed everything lawl...I came up Saturday night after work....and I left mid day Sunday so I really didn't  get to see any of the events :x but went to see friends uwu it was a 2 hour drive to get to LA and I couldn't get the time off from work to have the full weekend. So unfortunately missed the Heidi concert and all the other events. I didn't bother with a pass so I missed out on the fashion show as well. I went to check out the boutique but all the other brands were not there! LOL I guess they were all swooned away to prep for the fashion show. Welp. I sneaked into the artist ally and the exhibit hall though uwu and got some cute stuff but unfortunately cannot show here!! eeee because it will ruin surprises. DAMN!

This post is gonna consist of the biggest selca dump ever. Sorry not sorry. Some people didn't like the trash star/oshare kei look and so I opted to try my hand at gal. Not to mention I was due to go to a family event in Wilshire before I head up to PMX turned out I didn't need to which worked out since I got to PMX before it got too late. I should have avoided the 5 Freeway :x ugh always traffic!!!! 

ANYWAYS THE REST OF THE POST UNDER CUT

Here it is, it only took me a decade to get them out! I had originally taken more photos but had to scrap a whole bunch of them! Due to several reasons, I'm not gonna lie, I had so much gripe and grief against this fashion show that it really did took me this long to scrub through the photos /:
the dresses were gorgeous as expected but the organization was absolute trash. As many of you read the show ran incredibly late and was delayed by HOURS. There were no designated press area. We ended up crouching in the middle of the isle. To them its good enough that we got front and center photos but to be frank, my friend who sat on the  SIDE got much better shots than I did! Better lighting and whatnot!

Most of the shots I got, even after taking several shots of each model was just no good. You got the terrible grainy background from the projector image they had on the back, all the lighting was from the sides so by the time the models walked up to you (even with a zoom lens) there was just far too much shadow over their faces. Granted hooded bangs and hoodies were part of their coordinations /: it just did not help at all.

I'm still very much on the fence on returning to this con, the only motivation I would have to go is to meet friends who are all flying from the far east coast to this con for next year and I will definitely not be applying for press as it was the biggest waste of time.

Anime Matsuri | Nightmare Concert

Months later I'm finally uploading these here, I originally threw these on my facebook fanpage but its finally making its way here - hopefully minus the terrible FB quality holler.

My dA and Flckr account are both still suffering from neglect as is this web blog but I can't believe how long I've had this or have been blogging its interesting looking back at all the older entries when we use to use crappy cellphone photos as photos. AHAHA. Wow. ok lets just not go there ok? lol

The show was pretty tight from what I recall minus the crappy organization on the concert venue. There was no press area and no designated barrier for the most part to keep fans away from the stage unless you consider security as barrier /:

I dont even recall the set list they played but they def. played the 'Death Note' song aha. New World was it?...yeah sadly I'm not a die hard Nightmare fan but it was nice to see quite a number of them there *v*

I ended up giving up my spot on the front to wonder around the 'concert hall' to get a few shots from different angles and somehow ended up next to Reika and Akira at one point but I didn't notice it was them till the concert ended. Welp. Was too busy photographer mode I guess QwQ;;;

Rewind: Anime Matsuri 2014

IS THIS FINALLY IT?! REALLY? AFTER MONTHS OF BACKLOGGED FINALLY THE MATSURI POST AND ITS NOT EVEN COMPLETE. AHAHAHA WOW.

Its only been how many months since Matsuri and you're finally getting an update from me. Whut. AhAHA. And look, no HQ photos tho  AHAHA wow (their on my other PC and I'll probably make a seperate posts anyway with more of the other photos)

I am an awkward potato who will probably take ages to write this and I still have photos left on my other PC....why....so I'm sorry I'm relying on IG to let me remember this lolol....not that I really took a lot of photos while I was there tbh /: I was running around press and the convention was just...POORLY ORGANIZED. I can go on a whole tangent rant about it but I'm sure everyone and their mom has heard about it. I'll just break it down real quickly:

• No communication with the staff - lines were unorganized
• Events ran HOURS late
• Staff was uninformed/unprepared
• Press was mistreated

Pros though: Food trucks, good people, good company, good drinks and hanging out with the band. Yes.

our flight was really early in the morning like 6AM early from LAX and I was coming up from SD and Toshi came all the way down from Stockton. It was brutal. Not really. We hanged out at Dennys for a good few hours before heading over to LAX and it was a pleasant 5 hr flight?? IDK we both slept the entire ride over coz wow 6am flights. What is that. But it was thoroughly exciting to be leaving CA. I think we both were pretty much spazzing out to be out of CA for once and for a con too!

The weekend prior to AM I was scheduled to move to a new apartment and look how barren it was lol! It was definitely hectic trying to finish sewing, moving, packing and then packing for AM ahahaha what. So when I came back from AM (I was sick prior to leaving and was even sicker coming back ahaha yolo mode) that I didn't bother even getting the room together till a month or two into living there. Wow. Yeah.  And I am still horrendously back logged from AM that I still got quite a bit of photos to go through and several other shoots/events after that. So these entries will be pretty much all over the place and probably spammed out throughout the year....aha...wei....

one of the highlights of the con for me was the food and obviously the people. Not too fond of the weird weather lol. It was raining then sunshine then rain again. But oh well, it was during Winter/Spring ish so I guess? But it was very convenient that the food trucks were all posted right outside my hotel. Holler and the house of blues was also down the street from our hotel. Yum

I think one of our biggest worry leaving CA to fly into a con was just not knowing where everything or anything is AHAH or even how to get from our airport to the actual con, I didnt realize that Southwest flies into its own airport exclusively away from the regular airport ovo;; but luckly enough sister-in-law lives in Houston and was nice enough to pick us up and take us to get Subway during our flight in QwQ Godblessssss we didn't have time to really go shop for provisions since she was taking a long break from work to pick us up and take us to the con uwu;; its ok, we survived off the food trucks but this taught me to /pack/ some snacks even if its gonna be in my check-in coz wow. I didnt even know where the nearest store was by the hotel and the hotel didnt have a shuttle system but all taxis. Fuck no ):

I have some other photos from the con but didn't quite make it in this entry again I'll have to go back in and redo those...or something ahaha. When we got the con day 0 it was quite nice being able to take in the place and whatnot. But wow I think a good chunk of our time was spent waiting in line! Now was the beginning of the downfall for me /:

There was no visible lines for press, or a press packet for us press people. I also bought a regular badge since we didn't get the OK for press till like, 2 weeks prior to the con and when I had asked for a refund there was no reply on their email, facebook or even twitter. Whut. So I ended up with 2 badges /: uh ok....and they had shoved Press people in the same line as the upgraded pass people but for some reason regular pass holder lines were moving *so much* quicker than our lines....wtf...and when we were asking them questions no one could give us any distinct answer so I eventually gave up and walked away...
I don't even remember what we had for dinner that night, probably the left over subways sandwhiches we had??? aah idk but leslie flew in the night before lol and wasnt able to check into the hotel till we got there aha...but the hotel staff was quite friendly in comparison to most hotel staffs in CA! ahaha I feel CA hotels are so done with us con goers! WOW.

I don't even remember when Ying flew in AHAHA I like to think it was the evening of Day 0?? AhaHA coz I remember Day 1 being a cluster fuck ahaha I had to clock in some work time while at the hotel so good thing I brought my laptop with me and the hotel offered AT&T wifi woohoo so I was able to work from my hotel room but the hotel did provide free macs to use downstairs OvO! Toshi was still hard at work on her cosplays uwu;; and had taken over the hotel room simultaneously working on Tidus and Dragoon...

More foods from the food truck! We even got to hang with the band at the bar right downstairs of our hotel. Nice nice. No photos pls.  Sakito and Hitsugi were both pretty chill
