Nana Osaki Costest 1

I'm not very active on my blog since school started and I am behind on photos from AX but to slap some content back in here lol I'm going to spam this with some cos test from last week. I personally do not consider myself much of a cosplayer anymore to be honest /: but there was a time when I did cosplay. Too bad I stopped lol coz. Reasons. But once in a while its fun to slap an assload of makeup on and pretend your someone else.

Throw back from 2006

Fast forward 7 years later  LOL re-visiting one of my favorite manga/shows of all time. Ai Yazawa's NANA *w* I hope 7 yrs later I was able to do it alittle bit more justice. I'd still love to shoot someone else as NANA lol or BLAST but till then, its fun to throw your plaid and leopard together :D

I dont have the right nail polish color of the accessories since this was just a quick test shot. I'm hoping to redo this again when my friend is ready to do Ren *W* hahaha.

not PS smoke. Don't smoke. Its bad for you LOL

Wig haaaaiiirrrr

See ya later rock star~

259. Summer Essentials

Summer is finally here in SoCal and the sun is high and burning.
Not a big fan of summer, infact I try to stay in doors or away from the sun as much as possible.
Everyone tells you, your always suppose to wear sunscreen even if your
foundation has SPF. It just doesn't cut it.

I've been using the Aveeno Face Sunscreen for a while not but, I'm not a big fan of it
says oil free but still at the end of the day I feel my face is still pretty oily...
Granted I now switched out of using foundation for BB Cream, I'm back to my HG BB cream.
Missha perfect cover, no full review though.

It gives a medium coverage - better than the Skin79
and its a better match to my NC 30-35 skin tone. Honestly, I think I'm def a
NC 35 but I wear NC 30 year round. Just coz.
Vampiric.

I decided to try a new sunscreen - one with tea tree oil on it to help blemishes
coz no one wants to deal with adult acne and oil faced.
my search led me to The Face Shop. Yeah go Korean brands lol.
This way I can skip an extra step of putting on my tea tree moisturizer THEN the sunscreen
Then the BB cream and the rest of my stuff.
Costs a lot less than the tea tree pore minimizer from Body Shop too.

Hoping this is a keeper.

I don't know why I went with the smaller bottle of the BB Cream. Maybe coz
it cost $10 lol and I don't use BB Cream much (what am I saying, this is what I wear when I'm going to work...I only wear foundation when I'm going out-out)
But the big tube lasts me a long time, considering I wore BB cream on and off throughout the year.
I think I've had that tube for...IDK. Almost a year? 2? IDK
I wear foundation for the most part but switched to BB Cream when my skin hates me.

I'll probably end up cutting the tube open anyway when I feel like I'm down to the last drop.
1/2 to 1 pump is usually enough to cover my face.

girlconomics & more shameless haul

I had meant to post this over the weekend but I got lazy caught up in some things...So here goes another round of "shit I bought but shouldn't have but regardless you're probably going to judge me anyway :D post" but look at me being more productive and blogging more frequently lol but it honestly probably won't be long till I go into hiatus again lol...because eventually you do run out of things to talk about lol.

BUT DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE MY NIFTY NEW LAYOUT?! :D ok its totally nothing special, I just saw the image floating around tumblr and it was too cute not to use. And of course, credit is given to the original artist :o (left bottom corner) I might end up changing it later after this weekends shoot but I was getting tired of looking at the old one lol but a new year, a new look.

Museum sadly also didn't happen, photoshoot this coming weekend in Los Angeles. So hopefully the following weekend can hit up both exhibits in one.O w O

And.... before I go onto the shameless and lazy instagram photo dump, I'm sure people will judge and question where you get all the cash to burn on useless girl shit and whatnot. Mint made a post a while ago discussing the economics of burning cash lol....directed here and to be honest, a lot of the stuff she says there does make sense. And not to mention I'm a grown adult, I have a full time (40-45 hr) work week and I get paid way above minimum wage, I also work freelance projects on the side. I am in debt from school and medical bills but I refuse to let that dictate my life. Sometimes you just gotta spoil yourself once in a while.

I also make it a point to have a system and a budget on how I spend my stuff, I buy a majority of my stuff via ebay. I'm always looking for deals or flipping the clearance lines and mostly get stuff I need and really weight out the options between need and want. I also waste a good chunk of time debating in my head if a said item is worth paying full price for or if I can make a dub for it for a lot less. And if I can do without it or not.

I also set up a savings plan on my debit card, for each swipe of my card a percentage of that purchase gets taken out of my primary checkings and into my savings as well. So for example, if I bought an item for $10. $12 gets taken out of my checkings, the $2 gets put into my savings. So the more I spend, the more money gets put into my savings account.

I also have more than 1 checkings account and more than 1 bank account to really help me budget.

Looking at DIY stuff really helps me save a good chunk of change too, and obviously cooking at home is always a much better option to save your money. Now onto the shameless haulll and postage.

This will be probably my last few 'haul' posts for a while since its the end of the season (aside from my taobao posts and the one from hip-hop candy) I've pretty much gotten most of the stuff I needed/wanted to last me a good while from now till the weather warms up and even still I've gathered enough stuff from last season to last me a while as well....

Went to get my car oil changed earlier this weekend only to be told two of my tires are balding so I had to go and get those replaced. Boo. I need to go back and get 2 more replaced in a bit. I have a few more mileage on them before I need to replace them. )': you kids better be grateful when your parents give you a car because most likely they'll pay for the maintenance themselves hahaha...and while waiting, I ended up wondering into stores I shouldn't have .___. because the result was; Vertical stripe leggings and skull scarf~ wheee I finally got a skull scarf, this was more or a regret buy because I feel that I could have gotten a better deal online /:

Got a free sampler from Clinique. I have the Tea Tree Pore Refiner too. I haven't really used it much since the weather is still pretty cold. But come on spring! I'm ready for you D8<

new case for my phone~ currently I go back and forth between the silicone melty ice cream case and a clear plastic one. They dont really lock into the phone but it does cover it all the way around but grabs dirt easily but can be easily cleaned off as well with some alcohol. Wanted something sturdier that would lock into place and I've probably searched online for a good week before settling with this one. Unlike the iphone, the galaxy doesn't get much love in terms of cases. But thats ok, I don't need to horde thousands of them LOL! Normally I would have opted for a cute rilakkuma case but meh, its time for a change so I opted for this cool wood  tribal design OwO

And for the first time in years I went and shopped at Urban Outfitters. I generally avoid that store like a plague because of their over priced hipster items lol but I cannot deny that I managed to score $6 Doc Martens there before (which I later sold on ebay) I got the shirt for a friend, I initally wanted it for myself but then I thought better because I'm sure hipsters would throw their over priced coffees at me lol because I don't smoke but I do own a zippo lighter LOL (for incense and their also handy for burning the tip of your pencil liner to make it smoother and darker. I learned that from someone lol) but yeah, the shirt was for a good deal but what ticked me off was their exuberant shipping prices! The shipping cost me more than half it would have cost of the shirt. $10 for a T-shirt. What. Just get a flat envelope, shove it in there and charge $4.55. Maybe $5-6 to include shipping and handling. But $10 for SHIPPING. Thats insane. Never again Urband Outfitters. Never again.

Lastly, and probably the best buy I did was at LUSH. Also my first product from LUSH. I love that its hand packed and its edible LOL. And The moment I walked into the LUSH shop omg everything smelled so great! A lot of people recognize LUSH for their hand made products, vegan friendly and mostly for their bath bombs. I would have gotten one but I don't have a bath tub and more of a shower person but I can imagine how luxurious it would feel. A lip scrub basically works by exfoliating all those dead flakes on your lips so when you wear your lip stick it doesnt grab onto all those dried up flakes on your lips. Love that this one is bubble gum, edible and it also helps moisturize your lips :D! Normally I would have opted to make my own but this bad boy is only $9 (which isnt bad considering a little definitely goes a long way)

If you are interested in making your own, heres a links that describes how you can make your own:
Pretty Gossip's DIY Lip Scrub and if you want to try and recreate one that looks and taste like bubble gum, you can use bubble gum flavoring and edible food coloring (the food coloring will stain your lips pink too if you add too much)

Photoshoot adventure this weekend in Glendale OwO I am ready! Lets hope it doesnt rain! Forecast says rain on Sunday. Our shoot is on Saturday. Rain or shine, we're shooting LOL. I think it would be pretty cool to shoot in the rain (but I can imagine it'd be super cold lol Oh well!)

228. Packing for Cons & Shoots (and after)

I'm pretty bad at updating this, lol, I just finished a Vocaloid Kaito commission for a friend who will be wearing it to this years Onicon OwO say hi to a sexy Kaito if you see one at Oni-con, lol coz most likely I made that costume lalalawl.

And blargh, PMX and Code Geass shoot around the corner on top of other shenanigans that we are trying to make it happen. But! Now that summer cons are finally out of the way, doesnt mean convention season is ever over. With the fall semeter well on its way, so are Fall and Winter Conventions as well as opportunities for more cosplayers to get out and do more outdoor photoshoots! But yet, here we are again with another "what to pack" or "how to pack for a con / shoot" post. I know I've probably done several one of these but theres always several tips and what not you can pass on to people, right?

In this post I will mostly be covering how /I/ personally pack for a convention, either as a photographer or as a cosplayer. May I be going to the con for a day trip or staying the whole weekend. Its better to be prepared than not be prepared!

This list has been floating around the internet for quite sometime now. Click on the image to get the blown up image!

And in case that isnt working, here is the direct link

you dont necessarily need ALL that on the list to be on your suitcase, its just an easy way to get yourself organize without having to run through your head on what you exactly need and whatnot.
Tips:
  • Ask your travel buddies who is bringing what, one hotel room does NOT need 5 bottles of Got2Be hairsprays lol
  • ROLL your clothes and towels (ladies and gents with colored hair. Pls bring your own towel coz you will stain the white pristine towels the hotels provide)
  • Get vacuum bags or air tight bags. Some you can just roll to get the air out.
  • Map out the nearest convenient stores where your staying incase of an emergency.
  • If you have a car, and planning on parking overnight at the hotel, pack an extra blanket, lay it out on the backseat or lay it open over the suitcases so it helps save room. This way, incase you need an extra blanket in the hotel for unexpected guests or blanket hogging mates, you got an extra one!

I dont think that list really lists down on what to bring in terms of make up and etc, you can refer to my other 2 posts on these:
Makeup & Skincare for Cons/Photoshoots And Makeup 101 glossary
Day Trips: Con and shoot day trips are usually the worse for me lol. I need a huge bag with me or a pack mule. Or a nice backpack. Like this bad boy down below:

What I usually carry ON me during cons:
  • Camera, extra lens and memory cards
  • Instax Mini Polaroid Camera with film (if I have any with me)
  • A makeup pouch for touch ups (both for myself and people I shoot with)
  • Cellphone Charger (you just never know)
  • Water and Snacks
Now this may not seem like a lot to you, but trust me, it gets pretty heavy after a while. What I pack with me during on-location photoshoots isn't much different. Depending on the size of the group we are shooting or how big the shoot is, I bring my laptop so I can backup my files that same day. And at this point, I would probably end up bringing a small roller bag with me to carry additional props and equipment.

Cosplayers! Yes, there was a time when, I, myself also cosplayed lol. And the most annoying thing for me after a shoot is when I am just DONE! Done with the shoot, done with having pounds and pounds of stuff on my face. And I clearly know more now than I did back then. So learn from my mistakes lol and this just might make your day a little more comfortable at the end of the day.

When cosplaying at a convention or photoshoots without the luxury of having a hotel room to run back to, to change out. I like to bring a BIG bag, a big tote bag to carry most of the essentials; makeup for touch up, oil blotting tissues and a mini sewing kit and clearly a change of clothes.

If you have a car, you can leave the change of clothes in the car but always bring a pair of easy comfortable shoes with you on the shoot in your bag.

Bring a pack of makeup remover wipes with you to clean your face off of the heavy makeup your wearing during the day, and a small makeup pouch to just slap some powder and liner on so you still feel and look presentable (unless your ok with walking around bare face, well then, more power to you!)
BRING AN EXTRA WIG, a quick easy fashionable wig to replace the one you were wearing during the shoot if you cannot deal with wig hair.

If you insist on taking off your wig cap and leaving your hair to be free, DRY SHAMPOO is your best friend! :D Spray that bad boy on and brush it off/dust it off, it will give some volume and life back to your limp hair so it doesn't look THAT flat. Or tie it back.

218. [Cosplay] Makeup 101 Glossary - Face Stuff

On my previous blog post regarding Makeup for Cons & Photoshoots I talked about the different products and stuff what to pack for your cosplay photoshoot or convention trip in general, but I realize I did not go into detailed lengths as to what each product does, what it CAN do, and the different types of them!

Here is also another article I stumbled upon online; Basic Information about cosplay makeup by Sado

But not a lot of these articles or even most makeup gurus don't really go into much lengths on what each product does - or can do. This most is mostly going to be dedicated to all my male cosplaying friends and those who are just getting into cosplay and whatnot. There are hundreds of other videos and tutorials about this on youtube that you can simply do a quick search on but I guess this can be you quick 'guide' or 'glossory' as to what each product does - can do, and etc.

I won't go into lengths on application - again, youtube videos will be your best friend :D

And just 'coz your starting to wear makeup or cosplay does not mean you need to break your bank by getting super expensive high-end products, but again. You would know your skin better than anyone and I would suggest maybe trying these products out a few weeks prior to know what can break you out and what doesn't /: no one wants to spend a whole weekend at a con only to find out the makeup they wore for day 1 cosplay ended up breaking them out!  There are quite a few drug store products and brands out there that are practically on par with most High-End brands, its just finding the right one that works for you!

Lets get started....

Primer:  Putting your makeup on is like painting your face, your face is your canvas and like with any canvas you have to PRIME the canvas to make sure the paint lasts and looks as good as it can be. And for this, Primer is your best friend. Make up primers are usually contain max,  polymers, and silicones - you have to read the back label to see exactly what each one contains. Primers help smooth your face out and helps fill in ridges with deep scarring to help make applying the foundation over the face smoother and helps last it longer and helps keep your oily face at bay!

Primer comes in different colors - most to help cancel out undertones or in clear complexions. Concealers also comes in different color tones meant to help even out skin tones as well, but if your looking for an all over cover. You can get yourself a primer that comes in a color tone meant to cancel your skin undertones.

Some are even advertised as 'moisturizing' and are 3-in-1's...there are so many out there.

Finding the right primer for you: Do your research ): is all I can say....

I personally have oily skin and have terrible red undertones so I like to use a green based primer to even out my redness, if you have yellow undertones you might want to use a lavender based primer. Or if you just have dull skin you can try using a swallow colored peachy one to help brighten your skin up (this works if your primarily fair skinned)

Concealer: Your best friend when it comes to hiding all those dark circles from late night sewing parties! Also amazing at covering up imperfections that foundation just can't cut!
Concealer works by targeting all those super pigmented areas that you want to cover up. Comes in creams, sticks and powder formulas much like foundation. But it gives a medium to heavy coverage as its purpose is to CONCEAL. And much like primer, it also comes in several shades. From skin tones to swallow peach, yellow and purple as well as green tones specifically to target really stubborn areas that needs some good coverage. Also the good thing about concealers are, a lot of them can come medicated to help heal and cover up acne flare ups.

Foundation: Consider this the next step to your 'paint' project.. And probably one of the most important things when it comes to cosplay photography and cosplaying in general - is to come out looking your best and to make your face as flawless as possible. But lets face it (no pun intended) we're not perfect but this helps give us that effect (the rest is up to Photoshop LOL)

Foundation helps even out your skin tone, covers up imperfection, and also helps make you 2-3 shades lighter (depending on what shade you wear)~

Foundation comes in different types and forms - application is more or less the same.

The most basic form foundation comes in are the following 3; powder (loose or pressed), liquid or cream/mouse.

And recently theres new airfoam foundations that have hit the market - I would not recommend these as when they oxidize, they tend to turn a different color and just does not give as even of a coverage.

Powder: Powder foundation comes in 2 forms - loose and pressed. Loose meaning their not compressed in a pressed powder form (as shown above). Most comes in a small container like the one above and has a sifter inbetween to keep the product from going all over the place and making a HUGE mess. And for the LOVE OF GOD PLEASE DO NOT PRY OFF THAT PLASTIC SIFTER THING D8 ITS THERE FOR A REASON!!
(I had a friend pry that shit off coz they didn't now it was part of the packaging and needless to say it was terrible). If you get yourself one of these loose powers, just simply tip it up side down and TAP some of the product loose onto the lid it came in, and use a brush or sponge to transfer the product onto your face.

powder foundation is best to use if you have oily skin and aren't looking for something with heavy coverage. Loose powder gives a light finish and does not cover as much imperfection nor does it do much if you're trying to go a few shades lighter than your actual skin tone. I prefer to use loose powder or powder in general to help set my liquid/cream foundations.

If you have DRY skin and prefer the lighter feels of powder - just put moisturizer before applying your foundation and you should be good and helps avoid that cakey effect.
Liquid: As the name suggest lol liquid foundation is probably the most popular form of foundation used and provides the most coverage. Easily medium to heavy coverage depending on the formula and I'd like to say the best to use when it comes to cosplay - especially if your looking to look a few shades lighter and is the easiest to work with. But also melts off the fastest lol, so, prime and set!

Cream / Mouse: Cream foundations are amazing and provides a medium to heavy coverage and very build able. It can be applied with your fingers, a wet sponge, or just a spunge or a brush. I usually find the best ways to apply these (also depending on its thickness) are with foundation brushes and wet sponges especially if it comes in a very hard pressed packaging.
Its mouse counterpart - popularized by most drug store brands boast a light weight airbrush finish. Best applied by hand, and I suggest exfoliating and moisturizing before application as it can settle into the fine lines of your face and really pronounce dry areas x_X which you most definitely want to avoid especially in photos.

BB Cream: Also known as blemish cream, beauty balm and etc...., its a light to medium coverage 'foundation' popularized in Asia for its skin healing benefits. It was originally developed in Europe designed for patients who underwent surgery and still provide coverage for patients who can't wear foundation (mostly after laser surgery and whatnot as foundation contains chemicals in it that might not be too good for your damaged skin). BB Cream is pretty much a tinted moisturizer with skin beneficial properties; such as anti wrinkle, whitening and SPF protection.

I personally avoid using this for cosplay photography - unless you have perfect awesome skin LOL
since this gives such a light to medium coverage. Some BB creams are buildable but are designed for super light skin people, if you have yellow undertones, you might want to avoid BB creams unless you can swatch test them yourself and this mostly comes in 2 shades - light and SUPER light. /:
Only Misha is the only one to my knowledge that carries 3 shades and is what I personally use on my days off - or when I'm at work LOL coz I don't need to necessarily cake my face on.

BB cream also gives you a very dewy finish - which works for some and might not look TOO flattering on others. Always best to do a makeup test with this stuff. Sometimes the dewy finish can work to your benefit as you can skin the highlighter lol but I always suggest powdering this down to set and keep it from giving a overly dewy look.

Also one thing to note - BB cream tends to oxidize after wear and can cast a ashey overtone to your face. So if you are using BB cream as your foundation of choice, do a photo test. With flash, without flash, indoors and outdoors but be sure to give it a few mins to let it set and oxidize before attempting your face test just to make sure you don't look like a ghost in your photos.

(for more info on BB creams, click on the image above to be directed to a blog that breaks down all the different BB creams on the market right now if you're looking to try it out :D)

Bronzer / Blush: Bronzer and Blush powders are going to be your best friend when it comes to shading and contouring your face. It works magic on recreating your face and highlighting key points you want the camera to focus on. It will help redirect light, reshape your face, and it can also make you look like a doll or alien (or a burn victim xD)

What is contouring? What is shading? Highlighting? What the hell are you talking about woman?!

Contouring or shading is basically adding a darker color or pigment to certain areas in your face using a darker color as if creating a shadow to help /contour/ your face to look slimmer, make your cheeks more pronounced. Same as with HIGHLIGHTING. Highlighting is directing more light and focus to certain key points in your face.

You can search youtube for several tutorials on proper contouring and shading.

Bronzers: (also known as contouring powder) When people think of Bronzers, they think 'ugly sun burned skin' lol, thats probably because most people go over board with bronzers. No honey, you don't want to look like a bronzed up greek statue.( Chances are, you are no Adonis to begin with, lol, but lets be real)
Bronzers are easy ways to help fake a tan, a lot of the time you can get this in MATTE finish or a shimmer finish. For cosplay, I always suggest staying away from anything that shimmers. Especially if your using it for contouring and shading. Matte is always your best friend especially if you're going to be using highlighting shades....

**Tip: you can use matte eyeshadow to double as a contouring shade or use a darker shade of foundation as well, you DON'T need to buy a whole set of powders if you don't need to***

Highlight: This is the shimmer part of your palette. This is mostly used to highlight parts of your face where the light hits it just right, it helps bring attention to the right parts of your face.
Mostly comes in powder form like the bronzer. Comes in light colors such as white, cream and are mostly pretty translucent not too pigmented since you want to blend it.

Blush: There isnt much to talk about blush, it goes on the apples of your cheeks to give you some color, a nice peachy glow or rosey cheeks. It also gives a more feminine look to your cosplay if your looking at crossplaying as a girl XD (if your a guy, I mention this since I wrote this article with the intent to educate most of my guy friends lol)

The fun thing about blush is, it comes in so many forms and shapes as well! It comes in cream/mouse, LIQUID (its very runny and watery not like foundation), sticks and of course powder.

***Tip: you can use lipsticks as blush too! Best applied with your fingers as the heat from your hands will make it more pliable***

--------------------

And there you go, I hope this makes sense, I felt alittle rushed to finish it towards the end of the article xD as this has been sitting on my draft que for so long that I just wanted to finish it. Hahaha.

This should conclude the first portions of the basic Cosplay 101 makeup glossary. I didn't want to go too deep into details; ie: product recommendations and etc in this post as it would make it extra lenghty! but hopefully in the next few ones I'll be able to talk more indept about different products and provide product reviews.

I might go back and revisit this to update and re-edit later on if needed.

198. Makeup & Skincare for Cons/Photoshoots

Lets face it, we've all been to cons! Late night shoots - parties, hangout times with friends. Lack of sleep before and during the con. Pounds and pounds and I mean POUNDS of makeup on your face. The sun and dirt beating at you....and you come back crawling from the convention with new bumps on your face, horrendous eye bags (you might even crawl to the con with all that before lol) but please! Do yourself a favor and arm yourself!

***I should warn you now that this is going to be a lengthy post .... ***

182. Spring & Lippies Filler Post.

Spring is upon us...despite the...not so perfect spring weather...since for some reason San Diego has rain LOL. Not complaining though! I happen to LIKE the reason...so long as I'm not trying to go to a con or do a photoshoot lmao that is...haha...

Still working on finishing all the sets from the photoshoot from the last weekend and I need to haul my stuff and move this weekend but lol hasnt happened yet! Its not going to be a big move just yet...I'm just giving up my room since some family is moving in with us and my bro and his gf is getting my room and well, we'll figure out where I go from there lawl. So lame oAoll but alas, such is life. Anyways....

I have quite a few photos to go through and might have to do a giant photo dump once its all done- perhaps I'll do a slide show instead since each post is getting longer and longer with the crap I post up ;A;ll and I stilll need to put together a new layout for my blog. Its becoming to look rather plain....to say the least....
and isnt being very friendly lol....atleast to all the badges and stuff I keep slapping on the side with >_>ll

I spent a good hour derping around earlier looking for the perfect electronic photo frame. I want one that shows a good resolution and shows calendar/clock as well...at the same time...
but apparently thats too much to ask for and the ones I keep wanting to grab are..well...atleast over $100 which, to say the least - you get what you pay for ):

So the quest continues. Till then, I'll possibly stick to printing out some photos and there are definitely a few photos from the set from the weekend thats worth printing and framing! I have quite a few from older sets as well...and I need to get a new portfolio book together so ): but alas, has not happened yet again lol. I have 1 empty photo frame thats a decent size that I've been saving...and I believe I might have just found the right one to use for now *u* I'll keep you guys posted when it happens! Yeyeah! I definitely want to start framing my works considering I do from Photography, costume, and styling - not for all but a good number of them. And I'd just be nice to be reminded of the fruits of labor <3 So I need to keep an eye for some good frames thats going to go on sale eventually or start raiding ebay lol!

Lip wear~ I use to not be a big lip wear person - still am not to be honest. I dont like the sticky feeling of gloss but definitely like how it looks on MOST people. I just cannot do...LOL. My lips are pretty dark / pigmented so I feel alot of the time its hard to find a good pink shade that works so I tend to sway away from them and stay within my comfort zone - mauves and roses ): and pinkish nudes. But with spring being here, WHY THE EFF NOT TRY SOMETHING NEW LAWLZ...DURP. So along came this baby! (sounds like a freakin' advert)

A soft sheer tinted lip balm / lipstick thats moisturizing! Yeaaassshhhh  I cannot justify getting a high end lip stick when I'm not too comfortable with them yet. And yeaaah....so I tried this one out and see how well it works. Its not super pigmented and just has the right tinged of pink.  It feels more like a soft bb pink if anything....

collection!!! The stuff I carry in my bag :o Ranging from peachy nudes to a rosey pink and to some pretty sheer cherries. I'm not a big fan of the super red red lips, too 40s pin-up for me tbh so thankfully these are
no where near the RED DRAGON LADY type color and just has a sheer lip stain over it.

The hype this spring is ORANGE but...doubt I'm pale enough to do that LMAO. But I'd definitely be interesting to see how people coordinate that...also I wouldnt do it coz...my wardobe mostly consists of...black...black....plaid...black....and leopard...durp.

Lastly. Dundundundun!!! Haul form Ross :o all for under $18. Durp. Leopard bubble shorts (yes, whut. More leopard?!) and a STAR Tanktop *u* hnngg Star~ lol.
Bring it on SPRING / SUMMER D8< I hate warm weather to be honest but durrpppp

omg another post in one day?! Revlon Lip Butters

Oh my goodness! Another post in just one day? LOl, is this my way of trying to make up for lack of posts?! Probably. My posts arent as creative and fun as most bloggers tho, so I dont really consider myself as a legit blogger 8B

This post is going to be about the Revlon Lip Butters everyone and their mom is talking about. I'm honestly not much of a lip wearer person. At all. I get lip sticks and glosses - mostly given to me by people. but I dont really buy them /: lol.

and when I do, I avoid pinks since well, my lips are so pigmented light baby pinks just dont seem to work with me or my pigmentation ): sucks for me LOL. and also coz my lips have cracks on them and dont get 'exfoliated' as much. So, another reason why I just avoid lip sticks or anything like a plague. I only wear them for cosplay if I need to, but sometimes its nice that it just completes your look. And also its a good way for me to downplay how RED my lips can be sometimes ):

So picked these up, since everyone and their mom was talking about them. Their the new revlon lip butters and they are exactly as what everyone raves about!

pretty pigmented for something thats suppose to be like a lip balm?!
they do have a shimmer to them, so if you're looking for something more matte, you can get their color burst line or their other ones.

I've always trusted revlon for their lip sticks tbh. I used their red one for my Esther cosplay and it was pretty hydrating. I know alot of people compare these as dupes to the Dior ones. Well, I've never tried the Dior lines so I can't compare 8B

they dont leave my lips chapped or cracked looking either and are quite long lasting.

I wont swatch them since theres plenty of raves and swatches of them online already.
the only down side to these are:

their cheap and I mean, cheap. this is a brand new one that I JUST opened to take the photo and as I was putting it back, it hit the side corner leaving that ugly mark /:
and I know I'm not the only one whos had to deal with this. Everyone who had reviewed these had to say the same thing. But oh well! Their at a fraction of a price of what most people pay for super quality lip wear. No complaints from me! LOL.

2 colors I got were Peach Parfait and Sweet Tart. I didnt really expect the Sweet Tart to be THAT pigmented but oh boy was I wrong, so when I first wore it, it was PRETTY INTENSE PINK. Of course it can be pretty sheer when you first apply it but I made the mistake of thinking it was sheer so I liberally applied it on loool. So....pigmented and I had to immediately wipe it off. Was too bolt for my taste. It ended up looking like Kirbys foot like in the photo below ):

but the peach parfait is by far my favorite. Its the closest to a nude rose color -which is the most natural nudish shade I can wear without looking ridiculous and just tones down the redness in my lips just the right amount *u*

Lastly, I wanted to share this song by G.Na. I've been slowly following Kpop since I kinda fell out of the vigei scene, theres still a few bands I follow but not religiously. And I'm always looking for new music to just pop into my iPod and just listen to some nice vocals and music. And well, I stumbled on G.na a while ago, I only really know 2 songs from her /: maybe 3. But only one stands out the most to me and its 'I'll back off so you can live'
its sort of an anthem for a dark time lol a long time ago. But it makes so much sense HAHA.

Obviously the song was in korean before but I saw this not too long ago. She re-wrote an english version of it 8D! And performed it. Whoo. I wish she would make a studio version of it. But I couldnt wait and loved the song so much, I ripped my own version from the video and cut out the intro just to get the song. I have it on my tumblr too if you want to hear it without the long intro and etc.

Amazing vocals for something live. <3

THE BODY SHOP

The Body Shop had a sale going on /: Buy 1 get 1 half off. Or buy 2 items get 1 free.
My face has not been very happy with me. Not that I've really taken as good a care of it from the very beginning u_u yay acne scars and etc. That you cannot see from the mounts of makeup I wear to cover it up LOLz.
but recent discovery made me realize I need to really try to take better care. I'm not getting any younger LMAo and with recent weather changes, I know my skin is gonna go insane again LOL. Yay retarded combo skin )8<

So I went to the Body Shop to try some items since I wasnt ready to commit to high end products like Sephora carries or Clinique and was worried about wearing MORE heavy stuff on my face D8< when I already wear a bad combo of makeup daily LOLz....

Read some reviews on the Tea Tree Oil line so I decided to pick up 2 items from the line.
One that helps clear blemishes and control oil! Which would work for a daily moisturizer since I've noticed that I get acne flare ups every once in a while and enough is enoughhh
their not as bad as when I was younger but still! D8<

and the other is a nightly moisturizer/lotion you wear to help fade the old scars and prevent new ones from forming.
And last,y I got a free item which is their so well known Vitamin E moisturizer.

So we'll see how this goes! )8< since I'm not SUPER big into skin care LOL which I honestly should be considering I'm a stylist hahahaha....orz
maybe this would help me cut down on the amount of shit I slap on my face on the daily LMAO...and also considering I just go to work and no where else orz HAHAHA

instead of foundation + powder + concealer, maybe we can cut it down to just moisturizer (to help control the redness and oil T zone) and just mineral powder lawwwl......and I dont even use a heavy foundation on most days, I try to switch inbetween BB Cream and the now discontinued line from Maybelline's Pure Makeup. Sad that its been discontinued. I liked the fact that it was 50% water which gave it a pretty COOLING feeling but it did give a pretty light to medium coverage, which is OK for the most part since it was my 'every day' wear foundation. I kept the MAC for heavier days when I got places to go other than work LOLz....

but yes, we shall see how well this goes since I've read some decent reviews from it! :o

and I'm still waiting for a few items I ordered with my friend from SASA.com! I shall be receiving them when I meet her at PMX!

this was the cup I got from when I went to SF last year~ hahaha I wish I had a opportunity to see Alcatraz. Alas, I only got to see it from a distance....

and this! I wanted to post this! Its a quote from an amazing man. BRUCE LEE.

And I shall end this entry with....

A POSSIBLE IMPULSIVE TRIP TO COMICKAZE THIS WEEKEND IN LOS ANGELES TO SEE/MEET MARK HAMILL!!!!!! HOPE EVERYTHING GOES WELL!!!
Because I am clearly sacrificing precious cosplay work time to go to comickaze for a day! LOL and I still have quite a few things to finish on Esther Q_Q lawwwlz...oh my.

Drug store eye shadows. HiP & ELF

Lol, not going to lie~ Dungeon Fighter is still eating up my life oAo;; and well thats definitely nothing something worth bragging about to be honest..ROFLMAO...then of course my friends convince me to dress up for PMX LOL instead of something gaudy and obnoxiously lolita or vigei....I got convinced to bring out my old Trinity Blood cosplay :o which I did years ago and never wore. LMAo so its time to redo it. I'm gonna be ordering a new wig (even if my hair IS red lmao its not thick enough!! or long enough ish) XD and yeaaah...and I'll also be ordering a crap load of rhinestones via ebay (whooo china~) and glueing the crap out of it into the dress and I also need to get more laces! MORE LACES and add it onto the dress. I realized my Esther dress needs more jewelry and laces and jems! LOL. So I'm also ordering strings of pearls and redoing pieces of the outfit )8 and I also need to fix as much of Seth as possible so my friend can borrow it. Whoo~ and also Ion! waah hahahaha.
oh man, I kinda miss this rush lol...but not really. I would much rather level up my battle mage and nen master XD /epicfail.

But anyways heres some reviews of some drug store make up. Not the best photography /: lol, but the purpose here is to tell you how good they are not how photogenic they look. Lol.
First up! HIP Duo Maude MATTE Shadow

Now I remember when these shadows first came out a couple years ago they were going for almost $13 (wow! thats the price of a MAC shadow /: and you probably get more from mac but its only a single pot. vs this which is duo....but yeah) but has since dropped prices to $6-9. Depending on where you got them. I got these at Target and retailed for about $6~7...

the Hip shadows are HIGHLY pigmented and comes in 3 finishes; matte, shimmer and metallic.
They go on SUPER SMOOTH and their applicator is a small sponge one and its not all that terrible. I like to say that the HIP is definitely considered a 'higher end' drug store brand considering the price point they are at /:
and to be honest, their products are pretty good - the only thing I really dont like is their cream liner - it dries too quickly. The best go to cream liner is definetely from Maybelline! 8D
that thing has lasted us through cons, sweat and alcohol LMAO!
but yeah thats beside the point.

Total soft, pigmented shadows. This particular one is Maude Taupe coloreda and a darker brown.

The only thing I gotta note though is for the taupe color - as you can see from my swatch, its pretty light or close to my actual skin tone. To some people who are probably more fair skined it might show up better but when I use it as an over all wash it gives my lids a very fresh clean palette and I use the darker brown on my crease and blend.
Staying power is pretty good, lasted me a good 8+ hours (though I must note I wear primer to help keep lasting it longer)

The only thing I gotta say about this is - it doesnt come with a highlighter color so I always end up having to dig into my other pallets to get a highlighter for my brows. Other than that, super good shadow and I've always been a fan of the Hip line.

MOVING ON....

next up is the ELF shadow. I picked this up on whim and it was $1. Score~
and I gotta say. THESE BABIES ARE SUPER PIGMENTED :O FOR THE PRICE. IM LIKE. WHUT?!

just check out that swatch, yes, my fingers are not sexy roflmao but totally fat and stubby. Sorry. I cant keep my nails long for the life of me. LMAo.

This isjust me running my finger ontop for a quickie swatch and I'm pretty impress with the color out put :o
this is without primer too.

Though the pallettes are super soft so the only thing I gotta say is - do expect fall out. Their super soft but super pigmented.
As far as longivity goes, I havent worn them long enough to judge how long or how well they last on your lids but I CAN say that the colors are pretty true to the swatch. And nothing lasts forever so I wouldnt expect much.

Packaging is ok, you cant expect much from a product thats sold for a $1. Way better than L.A COLOR to be honest! And its small and compact and goes anywhere with you. lol.

and in other news, I got new keychains added onto my key ring. Tokidoki Thor one was given to me by a friend recently. O_O I wish my iPhone was able to have phone straps on it, alas. They shall remain on my keys instead.
)8

Lol, hords of Starbucks coffee cups in my cup board at work Lol. I try not to get Starbucks frequently because they cost an arm and a leg for something I can make at homeLOL. Yes, complete with my own carmel sauce and everything roflmao. But I cannot deny the clean packaging and reusable cups. Especially when theres never always cups at the water cooler =__=.... and you really should avoid drinking things with acids in them since they do ruin the enamel in your teeth and stain them as well. O_O

haha with that being said, I got myself a little gift today. I caved in and got a real tumbler cup thingie. This one I can leave at home or fill it with Ice Coffee for my morning rush to work. Haha. I think I deserve a little treat to myself for being good and keeping on track with this weight loss progres thingie. I could honestly be doing much better but I wont lie. LMAO. I 'd muchrather be trying to level up my Nen master and battle mage but life doesnt stop just coz you want to play games XD!!

Pretty boring. not much to update to be honest but hopefully within the next couple weeks I'll have a more productive entry since I'll be working on revamping some cosplays and working simpler new ones for my sister since shes up in Berkeley without a sewing machine. Lol.

and yep its def that time of the year again when its not exactly near the holidays but you know its going to creep up on you. Last year I tried to make scarves but clearly started too late and was unable to finish. I tried to pick up kniitting but there was just something about it that I was missing. So I picked up crochette instead in hopes I can make cool cute things like Twinkie-chan does LMAO and honestly, I havent quite gotten there yet. LMAO! I can barely keep a straight line scarf LMAO! So this is probably attempt.....iuno 9000?! And so far so good. Hahahaha.

random picture from the weekend trip to Bevmo. I'm determined to try this. If anything. I'd get it for the fucking packaging ROFLMAO.

I'm a sucker for packaging and this is probably why I spent so many hours at work staring at Lioeli products online =__=....

I never post FOTD since well. Nothing special about my regular face ROFLMAO. Its boring going to work without the lashes and lenses combo /:
neutral eye palette is neutral too and yeah. Boring outfits since you have to adhere to work dress policy. Lawl. Till next time~

P.S: I havent orderd a new gundam in so long! D8 its also because I need to order some rhinestones for Esthers dress LOL! Shiet. Maybe I'll blow my money on Gundams come PMX?! LOLZ!
